The Therapy I Offer
Person Centred Therapy is about accepting you, being empathic with your experience, and being genuine with you. In this kind of relationship you are able to make the changes you want, in the way you want to. People that work with me change in very different and often unpredictable ways so it's hard to say what will happen in therapy or how long it will take; it evolves through the sessions and is as unique as each person attending.
What we talk about in the sessions is led by you, you're in charge. That doesn't mean you need to know what to say, many people start sessions not knowing, yet something usually comes up and is more relevant than anything I could have prompted. I really trust that you know better than me when it comes to what's inside you, the parts that hurt, and what wants to be shared.
I don't specialise in one particular issue because I believe the Person Centred approach can be helpful with all issues. That's because it's about connecting with you and your individual experience of what it's like to have those difficulties rather than just treating the problem in a prescriptive, impersonal way. This quality of connection helps me work with all ages from teenagers to older adults, providing therapy to anyone who needs it.
I am very much with you in the sessions, not a "blank screen" detached from you. I'm engaged with your whole self; that is what makes the difference and helps you the most. I give you my full attention and receive anything that you want to share; however you are and whatever you bring is welcome.
